Dear Acorn Health patients, friends and colleagues,

We have made the difficult decision to close the clinic to all but acute patients and key workers as a result of the risk presented by the Coronavirus pandemic. We anticipate the clinic closure will be for a minimum of two weeks from 20th March 2020, but as you can appreciate, the situation changes daily.

PLEASE help us alleviate the immense pressure the NHS is currently facing by utilising our new free of charge Telehealth services for any musculoskeletal complaints, rather than attempting to contact your GP or A&E during this time of telehealth coronavirus Acorn Health musculoskeletalcrisis.

These Telehealth consultations take place via webcam, making them suitable for everyone self isolating or social distancing as you do not have to attend an in-person appointment. These sessions are fully integrated with our existing secure appointment booking software Janeapp, and can be booked online in just a few clicks by visiting

Our Doctor of Chiropractic Philippa Oakley is an experienced and highly qualified Primary Care Practitioner who is fully trained to assess you and offer advice, self-help guidance and support to facilitate your recovery, following all of the same evidence-based care recommendations as those used by your GP.

Philippa can offer support and advice for people of all ages, affected by a range of conditions including:‬

  • ‪Ankle sprain‬
  • Elbow pain and tennis elbow‬
  • Headache and migraine prevention‬
  • Joint pains‬
  • Minor sports injuries‬
  • Muscle spasm‬
  • Low back pain‬
  • Neck pain‬
  • Sciatica‬
  • Rotator cuff issues‬
  • Shoulder complaints‬
  • Tension and inability to relax‬

Closing the clinic for in-person appointments for all but acute patients and key workers will enable us to continue supporting those most in need, including those working on the frontline in the battle against Coronavirus, but allows us to tightly control the clinical environment and adhere to Government guidance. Whilst we have taken every precaution in clinic, it is becoming increasingly clear when looking at the situation globally that there are a huge number of people who are asymptomatic carriers who are continuing to contribute to the spread of this disease. As a global community, we all need to make the hard decision to socially isolate, knowing that this is ultimately for the best. We simply cannot justify the continued risk of staying open for non-urgent care.

We are heartbroken. As a small business, this is a devastating decision to have to make but we ultimately believe it is the only responsible option. We simply do not know what the future will look like for Acorn Health. Rhiannon and I have worked tirelessly for 6 years to build Acorn Health into the facility it is today, and these are worrying times for everyone, especially the self-employed.

There is a huge amount of uncertainty at the moment, but one thing we do know for sure is that we will be back better and stronger than ever before. We want to thank all of you for your continued support and kinds words during this time of crisis.

Please keep in touch and join us via Facebook for updates, news, and advice from the clinic on how to stay healthy and well during these difficult times.

Stay safe, everyone, and please help us #flattenthecurve.
