A chiropractor is an expert in the mechanics of your body, with an in-depth understanding of how it should perform. Best known for treating lower back pain and neck pain, chiropractors are in fact trained to treat the entire body! Our experienced chiropractor Philippa understands what pain and problems you can encounter as a result of day to day stress or injuries. As part of her treatment programme, she will work to help restore your normal function and relieve pain. In doing so, her chiropractic care can help relieve the pain and discomfort that arises from injury, stress, poor posture, lack of exercise and everyday strains!
Dr Oakley DC MChiro specialises in helping those with persistent, chronic pain. She utilises a range of techniques and strategies to provide hope for those who may feel they have exhausted every avenue of treatment available to them.
As primary healthcare professionals, chiropractors can provide care for a range of populations, including pregnant mothers, children and babies, and the elderly. Furthermore, Philippa has undergone further training to enable her to provide chiropractic care for children and babies.
Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession. As such, chiropractors are trained to diagnose and treat you without the need for a referral from another practitioner.
Our patients consult Philippa for a range of conditions which include:
- Lower back pain including sciatica
- Neck pain
- Cervicogenic headaches (arising from the neck) and migraine prevention

What to expect at a session
At your initial chiropractic consultation, Philippa will ask you to explain how your pain arose, and its effect on you. This helps her to make sure she understands the impact your pain has been having on your life. You’ll be able to talk through any historic elements that you think may have had an impact on the current problem. This will help Philippa to create a treatment plan suited for you and ensure that you achieve the goals you want from care.
Chiropractic is a profession, not a treatment. You will be offered a range of different treatment options which depend on the level of pain, what the problem is, and most importantly, your personal preferences. Philippa specialises in helping those with chronic or persistent pain.
Your chiropractic treatment programme may include manual therapy (adjustments of your spine and joints), soft tissue work, dry needling, exercises and other techniques. Furthermore, our treatment plans include self-help advice, and personalised exercise programmes delivered to you through our patient portal.
Whilst you might come to see us for lower back and neck pain, you can also see us for help with a range of other problems related to the muscles, joints and nerves in any part of your body. Philippa will take your entire physical and psychological wellbeing into account as this can have an impact on your pain and response to care. Remember, chiropractors don’t just relieve pain- we help you take control of it.
